I am 90% a 2-channel (music) person but would like to convert my music system to a decent performance HT system. I've been thinking/waiting for a long time and would really like to hear bullets flying around me instead of just L-n-R.
My level of demand on HT is lower than music. Any opinion on using a B&K AVR202 to run a HT system based on Magnepan speakers?Or should I just forget HT and spent that money on a better pre/power amp?
Thanks.
hi,
Is there anyway you could do a home demo? I like that B+K receiver, but we both have a bit of doubt as to whether or not it can drive Maggies. And the only way to know is to try it.
But to answer your other question, i got back into all this *for*
the home theater. I did it as a compromise music/HT setup; but HT is great. On those rare occasions when there is a great band on tv, i boot it up in stereo. Musicals get stereo as well.
There are about a million Maggie posts in the archives. Some of those might be helpful. One of the inamtes here uses the Krell HT amp
on his Maggies and loves the combination (Mart).
