I'm new to the Home Theater scene...What alternative package would you recommend to someone (like myself) pondering the Bose Lifestyle system? I have no current DVD, amp or speakers etc. I would like to spend less than the Bose price of $2k.
Thanks -
DVD with AC-3 - Toshiba, Panasonic, PioneerReceiver without AC-3 but 5.1 ready - Nakamichi, Yamaha or Denon
Speaker System - Energy Take 5 or Energy Encore, mail order from Canada
Check the reviews at AudioReview.com
I'm not real familiar w/ HT either but I've heard good things about Gallo Acoustics speakers. They're about the same size as the small Bose speakers. Their site is www.roundsound.com. The speakers I'm refering to are the Nucleus.
If i wanted to spend $2000, I'd buy the following system:
Speakers: Audio Concepts (ACI) Emerald $600 + $150 for stands= $750
Or NAD Integrated 317: $600
NAD 540 CD Player: $500
Speaker Cables/interconnects: $150
Total: $2000 plus taxOf course, if you buy those items used, take another 30% off.
.
. . . why not try Klipsch Quintets or something from Boston Accustic, both of which have received solid reviews and will sound good with music and HT? Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble would also sound better than Bose. All of the aforementioned would be MUCH less than $2k.
