Hi, I am looking for a DVD player that will give me an excellent mix of both audio and video quality. I have been looking at the Pioneer Elite DV05 and DV09, as well as the Marantz DV7000. I am looking to spend no more than $1000 or so on this player. I am having a hard time deciding if I should go for a player with progressive-scanning or not. Any opinions and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
The ONLY DVD player I found that I could use as a transport for my stand-alone DA converter without degradation of sound, as well as being an accomplished DVD player for AV use was the DV-09.You won't be sorry if you elevate your sites a bit and spend the extra money now. They are built like tanks and should last you for years.
I would add that the DV-05 was not available when I bought my player, and I have not compared it to the DV-09.
If funding is not an issue. I'd go for DV-09 (around $1330.00 shipped from some reputable on-line gentleman in Washington state). I currently own a DV-09 (for over a year) and I too have seen/listened to DV-05. The DV-09 just simply blows away the DV-05 in both sonic and visual performance. Progressive scan is useless unless you own HDTV set or consider HDTV purchase in the near future. You also may forget Marantz due to its reliability issue as I have been told.
