I just bought a 27" Sony KV-27V42 TV a few weeks ago, and it has Scanning Velocity Modulation, which I have been told causes significant "ghosting".(Is SVM a good feature to even have?) My question is, how do I disable this feature? Can I disconnect it in Service mode or do I have to open up the TV to disconnect it? I've also been told that a digital comb filter will cause huge scan lines when playing video game systems which send an analog signal.. Is there anyway I can disable the digital comb filter too? I would appreciate anyone's help on this... Thanks.
If these can be done you'll have to order the Sony service manual for your TV to get to them. My guess is that you probably cannot defeat SVM through the service menu (of course I could be wrong) and you need a comb filter regardless. If any of this involves opening up the unit I'd be wary -- many, many volts are cruising through your TV set and it can be a dangerous place for both you and your TV to play around in.Check out on the web -- there are plenty of Sony fans who are the techie-type who probably can give you more information (and more accurate information) than I.
