almost all manufacturer's farm-out now. The name on the box means nothing, other than what the retailer can charge and get away with. Imagine a huge parts warehouse in Mexico or Indonesia where the last child on the line sticks on the plastic caseing and pulls a brand name out of a box. Today it's sony, tomorrow it's Zenith, yesterday, Goldstar. The glory days when Sony made top-quality gear in Japan are gone. Soon they won't even make their own rice.
My understanding is that Zenith TVs are still made in the US. Where all the parts come from is another story. I would suggest a Panasonic, Toshiba, or Hitachi TV, the quality is better than Sony according to Consumer Reports.
