for 400 clams at Circuit City, and am quite pleased with the output. I reviewed the TV with my Canon GL-1 mini-DV camcorder of zoo footage, and was impressed with the natural and realistic picture quality! Another TV I auditioned before was a Loewe digital and I must say the quality is fairly similar. Previously, I posted that the quality difference was huge, but tweaking the Sony's settings, such as a strange contrast control that seems to pick out outlines and areas of contrast and cartoonishly intensify them (which I overrode) granted a pleasing reproduction! It's worth it to really zero out these picture controls when viewing a Sony Wega, otherwise you may be missing what's really there...

I was hoping I could find out what setting "contrast control" you were talking about. I went through my menus and found no contrast control except for the main contrast control.Bluesman
i forgot the name of the menu control when i wrote the posting, it's the one that fiddles w/ the sharpness i believe...i set mine to the "OFF" position, and found that it gave a more natural picture. ill check on it this weekend and let you know exactly what it was. i found that the more setting that are balanced out or turned off the better. talk to you later...
Thanks, looking forward to hearing back from you.
