You might want to consider a Pioneer entry level unit -- DV333, DV525, or their DV414. I had my DV414 modified by Dan W (contact Dan W at the Digital board) and the complete mod really kicked my player up to another level -- both in the digital output and the component/S-video output (specify your output to Dan). In my case, I told Dan I was component out only.
In a capsule, Dan modified my 414 to include: adding an IEC socket with extensive AC filtering, optimizing video out circuit, analog circuits, and transport/chassis dampening. His mod list is extensive and his services are very reasonable.
I know Bobwire does offer Samsung mods and his finnished product is equally impressive. Either way, I would go the entry level route, followed by a mod. After the mod, you will have what amounts to a near $1000 transport with an outstanding video out for your DVD's.
