Some friends of mine would like to get into HT, and would like some recomendations on subwoofers. I don't know their price range, but let's make some recomendations for different ranges, such as:a. Less than $1000
b. Under $1800
c. Over $1800In the over $1800 category, I'd definately recommend the sub I got for movies... the Velodyne HGS-18. Maybe not the fastest sub for music, but definately the nicest, smoothest, powerful sub I've heard for home theater. I haven't really looked at other price ranges, so please post your recomendations and reviews. Thanks.

I've got my eye on the new SVS subwoofers - check them out. http://www.svsubwoofers.com I'm thinking about getting a used Adcom, Carver, or Parasound amp (around 200/ch - 8ohm) with a Paradigm X-30 cross-over and 2 SVS 20-??? woofers. Should be great for HT. I'm guesing this will run me around $1500 give or take. You can configue a lot of sub combo's from them for almost any budget.Another Idea, for around $600 street price each, my Definitive PF-15's can shake my couch with no problem. Also another budget sub that is worth looking at would be the Velodyne CT-150 for about the same price as the PF15.
