In Reply to: Does anyone know which model is the replacement for the Pioneer DV525? posted by Bob Casner on September 09, 2000 at 20:03:17:
Bob,
The replacement for the 525 is the DV 333. The 525 is still available, by the way -- online for $249, or possibly $229(or so), if you scout around. The 333 is pretty much the 525, with some updated features: faster disc loading, instant resume (when you press stop, take a break..... and, hit PLAY again, it jumps you right back to the same spot you stopped. Nice feature, for sure. No "last memo" like the earlier DV 414. And no chapter searching in order to find your stopping point. And.... a much better setup/navigation menu.
It is a very worthy entry level player for sure. For $249, it is an excellent choice with even greater potential if you opt to modify the unit---- done by Dan Wright over at the Digital board. Dan modified my 414 and turned it into a great player--- greatly improved component (or S-video if you choose) video out and an very impressive digital coax upgrade. Definately worth a look if you find the 525 at a good price. Dan actually offers modified 525's at a very fair price if you are really looking to get into a Pioneer. Search the Digital board and reach out to him if interested.
