the CD playback is smmmoootthhh, way better than my Sony CA80ES (it uses dual 24 bit DAC's and legato link (Wadia?), and the DVD playback is transparent.associated equipment:

Paradigm Reference Active/20'sI've been happy w/ the 09, but they're discontinued and the remaining stock is probably winding down, so use that as leverage to get a killer price! I got mine for 1500 clams, brand new in box. I don't have any experience with the SOny though...I feel like I'm at a movie theater when watching DVD's, albeit on a smaller but more accurate scale.
