Hi,I would like to know what people think about these two
receivers. Which one is better for stereo music ?I had decided to buy Yamaha rxv995 or rxv800 online for $630 but
looks like I might get into problems with warranty if
anything goes wrong.
As opposed to that I might get HK avr-500 for $500
from an authorized dealer with manufacturer's warranty.I dont know what to do.. please help..
Thanks
Follow Ups:
I just got the RXV 800 last weekend, It is a great receiver, check the inputs/outputs on the RXV995 before buying it. I think the RXV800 has better/more digtal hookups, which will be important in the future. I traded in a RXV793 and the RXV800 was only $500 + tax (calif). Also the RXV 800 has the TOP-ART technology which was previously only available on Yamaha's real high end stuff. I say get the NEWest model as it will have the most advanced features. Let us know which you end up with...
thanks for your suggestions RAW and jr..
I think i am going for the yamaha rxv995 once i get a good
deal. still not made up my mind rgd whether to pay $625 online
or $750(with tax) from good guys. will keep you posted.rxv800 was available at one of the online stores
i think crazyeddie.com.thanks
SOMETHING I WROTE A FEW WEEKS BACK ABOUT "HT RECOMMENDATIONS". THE PERSON WAS MAINLY INTERESTED IN MUSIC BUT WANTED A UNIT TO PLAY MOVIES AS WELL. INSTEAD OF REPEATING EVERYTHING I THOUGHT I WOULD COPY AND PASTE. LIKE JR, I TEND TO LEAN TOWARDS YAMAHA. ONE OTHER NOTE, WHEN I DECIDED TO GO TOWARDS SEPERATES, BY ADDING EXTERNAL AN AMP (ROTEL), THE SOUNDSTAGE FOR MUSIC WAS JUST AS OPEN AS THE NAKAMICHI (MAYBE MORE SO WITH TIGHTER BASS.If your looking for a good receiver in the $1k area, that way you can use the other $2K for speakers, wires, etc., look at the Nakamichi AV-10 or the Yamaha RX-V995. Both receivers perform nicely. I prefer the sound charateristics for music in the Nakamichi receiver and for movie playback, I choose the Yamaha. I know that Yamaha is a very flexible unit, that's what I started with because I like watching movies (Bought the Yamaha, the receiver has outputs to upgrade to seperate amps at a later time when I had the money, gradually going towards seperates, and before I knew it, I traded the Yamaha in for the Lexicon DC-1 which has been upgrade to the MC-1). I'm not sure if you can connect seperate amps to the Nakamichi, definitely worth checking out, if so, lean towards the Nakamichi since music is number #1 on your list. If you have time, goto an AV store (not Best Buy or any of those retail chains) and check out the units and see the features and remote. For more info, goto www.nakamichiusa.com/home/AVRECVRS/AV10.HTM or www.yamaha.com/yec/products/products.htm
Hope that was helpful.HAVE FUN SEARCHING FOR YOUR SYSTEM, I KNOW I DID.
crg-Sorry I have no opinion of the Harmon receiver having not listened to it.
I am a strong proponent of the yamaha receivers though.
I am responding with a question for you though. Where did you find the RX-V800 for purchase online?
Thanks!
