In Reply to: Which digital RPTVs to look at for $3,000?.... posted by RichardH on October 09, 2000 at 17:06:10:
Sony make an excellent 61 inch digital RPTV that I think retails for 3800.00 but I am sure the street price is lower. It is the best 4:3 ratio tv that I have seen. On HDTv signals it does an excellent job with grey bars above and below the 16:9 picture. I compared it side by side with A Pioneer Elite widescreen HDTV. The Sony more than held it's own. Yes, the Pioneer was better but not by a very wide margin. It was such an excellent set that I can not wait to see the new 16:9 sets that Sony is releasing. If you have to have 4:3, in my opinion this is the best one made. It was on the cover of last months The Perfect Vision. Oh the grey bars in case you did not know is to reduce uneven wear of the picture.
