Does anyone see any reason to spend $25 extra on the digital meter for use in setting up an HT system or is the $35 one all I'll ever need? There's a few extra features that seem to me wouldn't be needed for this application. Then again, this is the 1st time I'm using a meter to set one up.

Go analog for the meter. I set up HT system and have used both. While the digital is good, the analog reacts faster to sound pressure. Setting a system up with the digital meter took me almost twice asa long as the meter kept settling when doing dynamic info that the analog would peak on.
I second pam's opinion. If you want the analog one though, it's recommended that you mod it for best performance. If you want the url to a page devoted to the radio shack mod, let me know, I have it somewhere.
Wow! You can even hot rod a db meter. Cool! Right up my alley. The url would be helpful & greatly appreciated.
Here it is: (sorry, I had not been on here for a while)http://www.gti.net/wallin/rsmeter.htm
Hope this helps!

Digital meters are good for making static measurements, analog meters are better for eyeballing dynamic signals. Either will do for balancing a HT setup, but personally, I like the analog one.
