I have a Pioneer DV-05 Elite player. I would like to convert to progressive scan, but it seems the only "upgrade" is the MSB at close to $700! I like the unit, and a similar Pioneer (the DV-37) is $1K. Do I have any other options?Mike
Follow Ups:
You can order the JVC-XV723GD for about US$500 and as a bonus get DVD-AUdio capability as well. This isn't the ultimate high-end product, but if you can find it locally, check it out.
Toshiba should be clearing out the SD-5109s (if they haven't already).
I'm not saying these compare with the Elite video quality, I'm not much of a video buff at this time.
There are options out there worth investigating that are less expensive.
Regards,
via its progressive outputs will provide a significantly better picture than the Pioneer via its interlaced outputs (sans doubler).I would not buy a JVC player. They have not demonstrated any expertise in DVD technology and I have no interest in DVD-A.
