If you are happy with the sound, then by all means stick with it.
If you have some minor complaints try some cheap improvements.
The best I have tried, bang for the buck, is to treat CD's with Optrix ($15/bottle), and to replace your wall outlet with industrial grade
(I used Leviton 5262 IGS 15 Amp receptacle from Home Depot).Replacing your system is a more major undertaking. I am positive that a big chunk of the money you spent on your Bose (or the original buyer at least) went to their looks, size, and the Bose marketing machine-- but I could not comment on whether you could do better for $2k as I have not heard the Bose.
Is your system music only or music/HT?

thanks so much for the response. it is a home theater system. the more i think about it, i really would love music to sound better than it does. but i still really enjoy the home theater. i am so confused!!! there are just so many options.
