HDTV can wait. Read the lastest Stereophile Guide to Home Theatre to see why. There are a number of 27" on the market and they are more or less similar, depending on where you are. I found the JVCs to offer the most features for the lowest price in my area, but prices do vary. It is also getting close to Xmas so sales will start soon. HOWEVER, to get 'monitor' quality you may have to spend more than your budget.
Follow Ups:
Yeah, thats what I expected of the monitor quality. I was leaning towards the JVC 501/801. Thanks for all the helpful feedback!
I've narrowed it down to the Panasonic CT-27SF37 27" SuperFlat TV and the JVC AV-27D501 27" "D-Series" TV. I do have a few questions about them though that I'm hoping you guys can help me with.
What is the line res for the Pan? The JVC is 700.
I noticed the Pan has 3 digital comb filters, the JVC has two. Is this something I should be swayed by? I read about dot crawl and color bleeding, but since you guys may have these, is it an issue worth analyzing?
Does the Pan have a front-panel A/V input?
The Pan seems to be loaded with a lot more audio features, not needed due to stereo, etc., and is $100 more from Crutchfield. Are any of the bonus, found in the Pan not the JVC, must haves? Thanks for the assistance.
