The coax is carrying broadband cable tv channels. This can be fed to your (audio?) receiver only if it has a tv tuner built-in. Otherwise you'll need to hookup a tv tuner to select a cable channel for the audio signal.
A cheap (new) vcr or perhaps a used (w/broken cassette mechanicals??) vcr are the low cost route. Standalone tv tuners are rather scarce. Just be sure to not get something so old (or low end) that it does not have MTS stereo.
Since your TV does not have an audio-out, the external tuner (or vcr) is probably the best (only?) route. Modifying the tv is not advised.
