A friend just picked up an Onkyo TX-DS787 receiver with an array of Pinnacle speakers + sub. He wants to invest a maximum of $500. now on cables so that he can replace the Pinnacles sooner rather than later. So, good people, can you suggest wire to complete the setup??He is interested in audio more than the video so much so that he's content with Rat Shack's flat cable for the rear surrounds. What he needs advice on are the forward connections.
So, he needs to wire together his TV, DVD player, CD player, left, right and center channels, sub, and Turntable.
I realize this is a pretty open ended-zillion variable question BUT he ain't too discerning and, at this point in time, he would be VERY happy with a step up from where he was so long as it doesn't break his bank, (or else he'll incur the wrath of she-who-must-be-obeyed!)
Finally, can you suggest a dealer he can call that would carry a broad selection of wire?
Thanks tons!

Two suggestions in cables, neither of which are sold at retail:For one stop shopping: Check out http://www.bettercables.com --
excellent cables that'll survive through several upgrades while
not breaking the budget. For a little bit more, I'd go with the Homegrown Audio Silver Interconnects. If your friend has DIY skills, ie he can use a soldering iron then they are downright astonishing for the cost.
You can read up on these at http://www.homegrownaudio.comAs with the gear from better cables, these too will survive several
upgrades. There are retail options as well, but direct places like Better Cables and Homegrown Audio are going to win in the bang for buck category.
