I've read posts in this forum & others by people who've paid between $200 and $300 to have their TVs professionally calibrated by an ISF-trained technician. And I'm wondering two things:1) Is the improvement worth the cost?
2) How long does a full calibration and why is it so expensive?
I'd be willing to pay, say, $100 for an hour to 90 minutes of a technician's time, but paying two or three hundred bones to calibrate a $550 TV (Panasonic CT32A20) seems excessive. Advice? Thoughts? Thanks . . .

only if you have an expensive RPTV (HTDV). I have a Toshiba TW65X81
and after calibrating it myself with Video Essentials and Avia I thought it looked great. But!!!!! after having an ISF tech come and
literally spend six hours re-calibrating it - well, now it simply looks stunning! I have a progressive scan player 9100 and at 480p its as good as it gets (without going to 720p). A word of caution though with DVD
transfers- the really good ones look great - the really bad ones (and there are many) look really b-a-d! Check Widescreen Review for reviews.
Yes for a "cheap" tv it is not worth it, just use one of those setup DVDs and that will be more in line with the cost of the TV. If you have an expensive projection TV, then the difference is really worth every penny they charge.
