hello all,
Iam in the process of thinking about buying the mcintosh dvd player
the one without componant video outs. I live buy the factory and know people so I can get it cheap if there is any left. My question is is there a substatial difference in picture quality. iam not so much worried about my tv but iam planning to use it with a lcd projector.
please dont shune me iam an audio nut hence the mcintosh

Bill if you were talking about buying a budget dvd player. I would say no big deal. But even with a discount I am sure you are pay top dollar for that unit since it is a McIntosh. If is does not have component output, I would guess that it is not progressive scan. Progressive scan can certainly give you a better picture on a high-end dvd player. Also using a component signal path will give some improvement over a s-video connection even without progressive scan. The only way I would buy that unit is if I had a very good line mutlipler and could get the unit at a very very reduced price.
