All:Audio Asylum is a great site. There are many people who are willing to share many experience. We have this Video Asylum for us home theater people. There are obviously as many (if not more) of us than AA users.
Why then, can we not have a more active discussion group!? If we have at least as many people as them in the HT realm, why do we have as many threads in one week as they do in one day?
Why don't we get the word out about the Video Asylum! Post on newsgroups, and forums. Wherever you can reach HT people! I believe that if we get more people, the group will be more active, and we will be able to get more advice, and opinions from everyone. After all, isn't that a big reason we are all here?

Hi Hantra!! How are ya?? Don't think we've met yet. I'm SteveF. Fairly new here, haven't had the chance to get here too much since my first few posts. Dog problems, yes dog problems, the vet and all that stuff. He's getting old (17) and needs that special TLC, God love him, he's an incredible mutt!! Anyway, onto the real thing here!! Yes I agree with you agout the HT thing. I've always tried to bounce back and forth, but making it one deal would be really cool. I kind of figured that the video aspect of the Asylum would be lean a bit more toward the HT side. I visited the 'inmates systems' section, there are some pretty serious systems there. Not much into the HT thing though I noticed. Well, we'll all just have to change that, right here. Turn this video thing, into "the Home Theater Looony Bin" of the Audio Asylum!!! Sounds good to me. I've already joined!! So, what's your HT system like?? I've made a really cool breakthrough, I think anyway, in the idea of a true full "stereo" surrond system. Howard Ferstler, who writes for the $ensible Sound audio magazine and SurroundFreak.com told me that I've done esentially what Yamaha and Lexicon have done in their idea of surround sound. Here goes: I have an integrated amplifier and A DD receiver. I have all sources connected to both. The integrated amp is running my main speakers in full stereo, the DD receiver is actually as just my surround processor/amplifier, the front speakers from it acting as the mid/side speakers, the rear, center and sub acting as such. Get it yet?? It's an awesome setup, in that, I still have regular stereo, for music and movies, giving the whole system a "much" fuller sound, and flexibility. One thing I've always disliked about prologic and 5.1 is the "hole" in between the front and rear speakers, well, here is my solution!!! AND IT WORKS!!!!! The flexibility is incredible. Yes it's 7.1 I would say. It gives a very full soundstage to say the least, with no hole in the middle. Has anyone ever felt this way about 5.1 as I do??? I'm not pushing a whole lot of power to each speaker, but my speakers are pretty efficient (all Polk Audio), 110 watts going to each of the fronts, and 55 watts going to each of the
four surrounds and center, the sub, the weakest link in my system is only 100 watts and a small Advent, hopefully my next upgrade (an Hsu I hope). I wish I could have everyone over to turn you on to it. I love it. It's great for music because it is still stereo, you can get rid of the rest of the system if you want just by the flip of a button (or turn the receiver off!!) and you've got plain ole' stereo, or you can use the surrounds to any extent that you want, including how much of the center you want. It's GREAT!!! So what do you guys think??? If you're negative about the idea, please be gentle, I'm very sensitive and fragile about my HT system!!!!!! Chris VH silver IC'sI am happy with my setup for now. I do want better stereo though. I believe my next upgrade may be a Bryston 9ST-THX amp. I don't think I can afford to do what I really WANT to do.
I would LOVE to have the Arcam 10 with the DAVE module, and another 3 channel Arcam amp. That is a sweet setup! I am torn between that, and the B&K 307, but I think the Arcam is so smooth!!!! But if I bought that, I would creek myself in a pair of B&W 805's or SCM's! And I'd have to sell my car! hahahaa

Hi Hantra !! It's me again in reply to your reply about my system. You've got Kefs!!!!!!! A friend of mine of years ago had a pair of Kefs, don't have a clue as to the model number, but they were so awesome. The only thing wrong with the picture was a Yamaha receiver pushing them!! YUK!!! What a shame to waste such wonderful speakers with such a piece of crap amp, I use to harass him all the time. Of course now in retrospect, I had Altec Voice of the Theaters!! YUK!!! I'm surprised I have any hearing left at all. My system equipment isn't quite as eloquent as some of the systems I've read about here. But I do like it none the less very much. The equipment goes as follows, if you care to, relate back to how I explained the hookup.
Electronics:

All interconects are Radio Shack gold ends or whatever they call them, the dvd player is s-video to the television, optical to the DD receiver and RCA stereo to the integrated amplifier. All other sources are connected to each amplifier individually. The integrated amp is running in full stereo for all sources pushing the SDA's, while the receiver is in 5.1, it's actually being used as a surround processor/amp, pushing the 4 R-10's, center and sub. The fronts are actually the mid/side speakers and then the actual rears and center.
It's quite a flexible system, being stereo and 5.1 all in one, hence I guess 7.1, so I've been told. I feel it's more the real thing rather than all these DSP modes and such. It's very flexible in that I can listen to just stereo, stereo with a little added surround via Pro-Logic, full blown 7.1 or just 5.1, or just Pro-Logic, take your pick!!! In my small room,(unfortunately square 14.5 x 14.5 x 10), it's almost like having a big set of headphones on!! The subwoofer is 'almost enough', even though it's really small and an Advent!! The 7 full range speakers give more than enough bass, except for the really low end. The system is very flat and dynamic, very smooth (thank you Polk, I know they're not state-of-the-art speakers, but I sure as hell think so!!) and very easy to listen to. Come on over for a listen, I'm home most of the time!!!!!!!!!Peace SteveF
