I'm building a home theater system that also plays music CD's. I have a Sony Trinitron multi-channel audio tv and a multi-disc cd player.
Here's what I plan on buying:
Denon 3801 A/V Receiver (~850)
Energy Encore speakers system (~900)Any thoughts so far?
Any thoughts on a good DVD player for (~400)?
Follow Ups:
Gump,The Denon is a fine choice! Congratulations. However. . . I believe that you can get much better speakers for the $. If you like the sound on the Energy, then go ahead. But not before you listen to NHT, KEF, or PSB's! I am just not a big Energy fan, and for the money, you can get much better.
I would put more emphasis on speakers than anything else. If you have to, step down to the AVR-3300, and spend more on speaks. You'll be glad you did. IMO, you should design your system around the speakers, and not the electronics.
For $400, I would get a used Pioneer ElitE DV-05. They are everywhere for around that. Check audiogon.com, or something. If your TV will do progressive scan, then get the new Pioneer progressive scan DVD player, which can be had for $400ish (not the ElitE).
