Mike,DSS is definately worth it! I love my dish, and could not live without it! BUT if you have 6 TV's, you might check into getting digital cable instead.
You may not have to buy 6 different receivers, but you would have to get some multi-room setups going on, and it would cost a bit of dough.

Thanks, but there is no digital cable in my area.I've also been told there is some great choices in digital music broadcasts with DSS. Do you agree?
Is there a website for learning more about the multi room gear I'd need? Any recomendations?
I think with digital cable, you'll definitely need more than one cable boxes. Synopsys from an LA Times article on Adelphia cable in southern cal: It'll work just like DSS in that you'll need a decoder for every TV if you want to watch different program in each. Also, there'll be an extra charge for each additional TV, because they can track what you watch. The article is from the business section sometimes last week, if you're interested. They have a website as well.
With our provider, you require a decoder box to get all the channels and music stations. However a TV without a decoder will still recive all the analog stations. So our main TV (with the decoder) has all 150-200 channels, while our bedroom TV (without a decoder) gets 60-70 channels
Mike,There is some great HQ music on DSS! Lots of channels, and no commercials. Variety galore.
I would go to www.directtv.com to find out about that gear. There is also http://www.digitaltoday.com/ which is not bad. . .
