In Reply to: Building a new house. Ideas on a custom inwall entertainment center... posted by Bart on November 23, 2000 at 19:11:27:
Here's an idea...get a selector switch like the Niles DPS-1. It will enable you to share your Kharma's between two different amps. You run your speaker cable from your BAT VT-500 to the DPS-1 input #1 and run your Main L/R speaker cables from a reciever to the DPS-1 input #2. Then run speaker cable between the speakers and the DPS-1's output. You can then switch between the two amps. For the center channel try different speakers until you find one that matches your Kharma's the best(since Kharma doesnt make a center). Above the TV, build an opening that will allow the center speaker to fit in(recessed), but have it so it sits on a rolling shelf that you can pull the speaker out of the hole when you want to watch a movie. If you do these two things, I believe you will be more satisfied with the HT system. Also you will save money because you didn't have to buy the L/R main in-walls. Plus I'm sure your Kharma's will sound better than ANY inwall speaker you could buy for ANY price. I don't know of any in-wall equipment racks that have the custom faceplates you asked about(I would like to know as well).Good luck!
