It's kind of confusing but here goes anyway:
DOLBY DIGITAL can mean:
1) digital mono
2) digital stereo
3) digital Dolby Surround
4) digital Dolby Pro Logic Surround
5) Dolby Digital - AC3 - 5.1 SurroundThen there are the older Dolby analog surrounds:
1) Dolby Surround
2) Dolby Pro LogicI'll bet I've really confused you now. It would be best for you if you went to the Dolby website. It should be fully explained. You'll probably want to print it out so that you can read it over several times. Hey, I'm not implying that you're slow. I am implying that at first, especially for a Newbee that at first glance it may be a little difficult to understand.
Good Luck
Bob
