The 9000ES is good for HT. For true audiophile music though it lacks the analog direct mode, which bypasses a/d processing, and feeds the analog signal diretly via the volume control to the power-amp.Amazingly enough, the 9000ES has been incorporated into the Son 777ES receiver (which recently has been discontinued, but you may still find one somewhere). In this receiver it serves together with the N9000 5 channel amp at a list price of only $1500 and street was close to $1000 in some cases. This receiver has analog direct, it sounds great for music, and comes with these powerful amps to boot.
Don't take my word for it, but check out the reviews at www.audioreview.com.
