The component cables used in our system between the video processor (Barco VSE40 - switcher & quadrupler) & projector (Barco 808S) are made up from a roll of commercial cable & terminated with BNC plugs. My reply was based on experience with S-video cable. The S video cable I had been using between the laserdisc player (Theta Data III) and processor was a cheap commercial unit. This was replaced with a very expensive 7Nines HD-24970 (99,99999% purity) S cable and we detected absolutely NO difference.
Perhaps it could be argued my reply to your earlier query was misleading and there is no validity comparing S-video cable to component. Bottom line is I'm not even considering any video cable changes. We are only getting mediocre video from laserdisc (hence the temptation to try a tweak) but get absolutely stunning pictures on DVD and from digital satellite - the picture quality all depends on the quality of the software on DVD and on the broadcast. Any improvements in video due to cable changes, if they exist, IMHO are far outshadowed by software quality so are a waste of dollars.
