In Reply to: Calibration by ISF-trained tech--worth it? Why so expensive? posted by Dalancroft on November 06, 2000 at 13:21:51:
only if you have an expensive RPTV (HTDV). I have a Toshiba TW65X81
and after calibrating it myself with Video Essentials and Avia I thought it looked great. But!!!!! after having an ISF tech come and
literally spend six hours re-calibrating it - well, now it simply looks stunning! I have a progressive scan player 9100 and at 480p its as good as it gets (without going to 720p). A word of caution though with DVD
transfers- the really good ones look great - the really bad ones (and there are many) look really b-a-d! Check Widescreen Review for reviews.
