I also had problems playing the DTS soundtrack on my non-ES gear, but it was only because I don't have any other DTS DVDs or CDs and had never enabled DTS on my Pioneer DV-414 player. After that was done, DTS playback was automatic. Trust me, you don't need an ES-equipped system to enjoy the DTS soundtrack on "Gladiator".Hope this helps!
