Backlight the screen using 6500 degree Kelvin fluorescent bulb. A fixture and Sylvania bulb costs ~$20. The picture will have better contrast and be much easier on your eyes. The light intensity level is shown on the Video Essentials calibration dvd. Search at AVS forum for extensive discusions.Dave
