I have a Parasound DD-1500 DD processor and an Panny A-120U DVD player and this combo sometimes causes transients when menu switching or scanning while paused due to the audio signal quickly going in and out of "lock". Most of the time it's a nusance but a couple of times it's been VERY loud, I'd guess like 70dbs+ for that split second... Can this damage an amplifier the same way an electrical surge/spike could? The reason I ask is that recently a 2year old Parasound HCA-1203a 3-channel amp had a transister pop and I was getting int. audio from that channel. I am getting it fixed now but I'm curious if these transients could be the cause because I'm kind of certain that transisters just don't go pop and die... especially in only a 2 year old amp... I do not know which transister popped but this is from the guy who's fixing it..Thanks,
Jay
