DLP is much bright so if you plan on watching tv with it that my be more of a factor for you. I compared the Sony LCD the 10vht or somehthing and the Marantz DLP. Both were good but need darken rooms for the best picture quality. The LCD projectors are cheaper so if you need one now the Sony is hard to be and certainly the equal in picture quality of the Marantz but notof its light output. What stopped me from buying either was the quality of the blacks. The blacks not quite as dark as they should be. I do not know if you saw the movie "Gladiator" but if you did or do notice the blackness of the armour when they surround Russel Crowe when he tries to leave and prevent the emperor from finding out his identity. LCD and DLP do not do justice to the menance of the dark armour and helmets. I remember how impressive the armour looked at the theater. I hated it on both of these projectors and was let down when they fell short. Bring a dvd of this movie it audition both Lcd units and dlp and see if you are happy with the blacks. You may well be as many do not seem to notice it that much. I watch a lot of Sci-fi and you need the "blackness" of space to really be drawn into some of the scenes. Like for example on the scene in "Mission to Mars," when the rescue mission goes awry and they are floating in space. If you have either of these movies you can use these scenes to check the blacks. Because of this I decided on a large screen rpt tv. With the Panasonic 65 selling for 3200.00 on the internet, I decide that I would wait on the technology to catch up and buy one of these.
