I need to find someone who has a Panasonic TU-DST50 Decoder. I am considering buying one, but I need to know what kind of inputs/outputs are on it. I am trying to find out how to receive a HDTV Satellite signal from DirecTV and record it onto a Panasonic PV-HD1000 D-VHS recorder through a IEEE 1394 connection that can be found on both units. My inital solution was to run a signal from a RCA DTC100 receiver to the Panasonic decoder so that I could take advantage of the 1394 interface, but to get the signal from the RCA unit to the Panasonic decoder, I'm pretty sure that it has to convert it to analog to send the signal which defeats the purpose of the 1394 interface.Any suggestions?

Unfortunatly this won't work, The RCA HDTV STB does not have any compatable outputs with the Panny DST50 for HDTV. The way some lucky folks did this was to use a Dish Network 5000 receiver with the optional HDTV modulator. This places any received HDTV content on channel 3 or 4 which the Panasonic thinks is a standard off-air signal and records it to the PVHD1000. Note that this is a digital RF link. There is no quality loss like you get with an analog RF connection. You may not realize that all the required components needed to do this, both Panasonic and Echostar, or discontinued and very hard to get. The devices go for outragous sums on EBAY. Go to www.avsforum.com
There are some new threads ther with mod kits for RCA DTC100's that can record HDTV on a DV vtr.
