I notice on this monitor that the screen has three rates of vertical deflection that changes at 1/3 the screen down and 1/3 the screen up. The top third moves faster (wider lines and dimmer light output) than the middle third of the screen (slows down in the middle, shrinks up slightly, and is a bit brighter), then goes faster again for the bottom third. It's subtle, but noticeable when panning up and down a still picture. I think it's probably a "design feature" to work with the large flat screen and compensate, but I also think the transitions are too abrupt and if I were to design this I would look for a way to smooth that over. Anyone have knowledge of this artifact of this TV monitor? It's so good otherwise. Can this "feature" be adjusted?

For what it's worth, I've read about this problem before. I think it's just something you have to live with...By the way, I am about about to purchase either a Sony KV-35s42 or Kv-36FS12. In your opinion, is the WEGA worth it? It would run me about another 500 bucks... Thanks.
I figured this little problem was designed in, and I can't imagine it not being able to be designed out as well, but oh well. The Wega is really good overall. It really produces some outstanding picture quality with DVD, but don't use their factory settings. I have purchased a DVD test disc to set the controls properly and then you can really see what the set is capable of. You have to compare it against the others to see if you believe it's worth the extra, but use a good DVD source for the comparison. On standard cable, it's of course not worth extra money to me. I have used this DVD test disc to adjust a 32" Proscan and a 27" Proton and the Wega well outperforms them in almost all the adjustments. The dynamic range of light output while remaining stable (no blooming)is incredible in comparison. Detail and color saturation are tops. It's really extraordinary on the test disc's highest quality pictures.
My brother owns some $4K projector system for his HT system. I decided not to go there at this time, and the 32" Wega is a good interim solution for HT. Any smaller and I think the screen's just too small for DVD movies. So I guess it's my opinion that if you're going to less than a 32" screen you might not be getting what you need for a DVD movie and the performance may be overkill for anything less than C-band satellite (DirecTV is not a good source worthy of the Wega). I haven't seen a better standard NTSC monitor than the Wega, overall.
