I have a small viewing space about 12 feet from wall to wall. Currently I have a 32" regular TV set with S-video inputs. I'm interested in getting a HDTV. For the size of screen that would make the upgrade worth it the screen will take up so much space. I feel I'll be inside the TV watching it in my small space. My other options are a plasma monitor, which I'm not impressed with, or an LCD projector. Has anyone gone to a LCD projector in their setup?? I haven't actually seen one outside of a computer presentation so any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I've seen them in show-rooms. Impressive clarity. The only drawback is you need a darker than normal room. Block all windows well. Other than that, at 10-12 feet from screen you get the equiv of a 100 inch TV screen. Now, that's home theater.
Sony makes one the vwht 10 or something like that. I have seen it quite a few times. It is better than most lcd projectors and really has a stunning picture on hdtv. The blacks though are not as good as what you would get with a rear projection tv but most people would be happy to give up some black level for the otherwise beautiful and sharp picture. It is very easy to set-up and will work in your room. The unit retails for around 7000.00 but I see them sell on ebay for around 5000.00 new. Another option is the Marantz DLP projector which is brighter than the Sony and has better blacks but not the resolution of the Sony. It is about 10000.00 new. With either of these you will need a darkend room for the best picture but not nearly as dark as you would need with a crt projector. Go out and auditon the Sony LCD as I think it will suit your needs. If I remember correctly the Sony needs to be about 9 feet from the screen.

... would not recomment it for such a small room. They are expensive, a real pain to set up correctly and are not particularly beautiful to look at. You would be far better off with a larger TV or a rear projection unit. The latter can be most impressive.John
