Hi! I am from the Philippines, and i'm finally getting my HT system back on track.I'm thinking of buying a new TV, the problem is i'm divided on whether I should get a 34" Sony Wega or a 55" Toshiba HDTV rear projection. Both of them are priced at around $2600. I've seen the Toshiba and its quite clear compared to other rear projection TVs.
Hope you guys can help me decide on what unit to get, and discuss their Pros and Cons.
Thanks,
DJ

Go big. A 55 inch picture will have much more impact than a smaller 34 inch tube. My parents own a Toshiba 65 inch 16:9 RPTV and it offers a great picture and is a good value. The only TVs I like better are the Pioneer Elites, but they are big $$$$.I was in a similar predicament a few months ago. I bought a DLP projector and now have an awesome 92 inch picture (and will get a larger screen when I move). And I used to think my parent's 65 inch TV was big! However, it is not quite as good for regular TV viewing but it excels with DVDs which is 99% of what I watch.
Good Luck,
Ladd
Not to further confuse things, but what about Sony's HD RPTV's?
Dunno about over there, but in the US the 53HS10 would be about your price and would offer a 53" screen (4:3 format) with squeeze for anamorphic 16:9 playback.
