I currently own low-fi junk and I have really gotten into home theater the past 2 years. Being a college student I can only afford to upgrade one piece at a time. So what I'm hoping you can help me with is which I should upgrade first and what I should get.My system currently consists of an old Sony surround receiver...I can't even remember the model (it was like $250 about 3 years ago), a Pioneer DV-05 for my CD/DVD, Infinty kappa 6.1 for mains, Infinity quadrapoles for surround, and a Sony Kv32XBR45 for the TV.
What I would like are:
Sunfire Theater Grand II new $3200
Sunfire Cinema Grand used $1700
Von Schweikert VR-4 gen 2's used $2000
" " LCR 31 used $800
" " VR-2100 used $1000Any help you guys can ofer is much appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Berserker,
In my opinion, any speaker upgrades will be severely limited by that Sony receiver ($250 3 years ago doesn't strike me as being "top of the line"). Upgrade your receiver to one more suitable (especially if you are going to upgrade your speakers to speakers of such quality), or go with separates which would sound better and offer more flexibility (your choices above probably are fine). I'm in grad school so I know *exactly* what you mean by only being able to upgrade one piece at a time (at least you can upgrade at all, unlike myself right now). Have fun listening.

My .02; Go with used electronics. They tend to fail early in their life and if you can find them with factory warranty time left they should be safe. Used speakers can be ok but they may require rebuild due to foam surround breakdown depending on the model.Good luck,
Dave
