Where do you live? I ask this question because here in Australia many TVs for sale (even the cheapest Sonys) can handle either PAL or NTSC. In recent years videorecorders which can handle NTSC as well as PAL have become available.The above is not a direct answer to your question but might give you a lead to follow.

Use to live in South Africa and on contract in the USA, hence the PAL to NTSC. My vcr is multi-system in that it plays both signals however my tv only accepts NTSC. I was initially hoping that my vcr had enough 'oomph' to be able to convert the PAL to ntsc, but alas.Whats really sad is that i spoke to a couple of 'electronic' stores over here and they have no clue what PAL is.
