How severe do scratches at the bottom of a DVD disk need to be to prevent the disk from playing propperly?(Can they be removed?)
I am on tour in the USA and I baught a DVD disk with slight hair-thin scratch lines at the bottom. I am unable to test the disk before the warranty expires, so I need to take a chance.
I don't want to return the disk unneccesarily.
Please let me know!

Where I work we can borrow DVD's and they get scratched.
The smallest scratches seem to cause odd "blocks of video to get strange. as momentary bunches of small squares in the picture dropping out or getting 'messed' up. It may be my player is very sensitive to this... I don't know. But the "error correction???" of DVD seems to be less robust than that of CD????
