Not sure your room is equiped with 7.1 surround speakers or not if it has, please try Toy Story2 or Gladiators in DTS Surround EX mode. It's simply awesome. BTW, much of my B&K purchase decision was much based on John Kotches's credit. My special thank you note to him.
Follow Ups:
I didn't audition the Anthem AVM2 but I bought the B&K Ref 30 3 months ago. The sound is great for HT and stereo and it does have the capabilities to be upgraded as well as the analog inputs. Setup is a breeze and it has all the inputs you'll need for awhile. I am getting some flickering though, between the Ref 30 and the S-video input of the TV. It doesn't happen when I go straight from the DVD player to the TV using component. I haven't tried going straight from the DSS or VCR to the TV yet to rule out the Ref 30.
If your TV set allows all the inputs (S-video, Component and Composite) I'd bypass the Ref30 all together in which I do in my case. Nothing beats pure 'direct', IMO.
I use the B&K for S-video switching between the satellite and VCR. I go direct using the component input from the DVD player. I can't go composite and S-video, the TV will only recognize the S-video as long as there is a S-video input. Thanks
