I am about to start my first entry level HT.I want a direct view TV (32 or 36) and good DVD player.
I have a question about the benefits of a progressive scan dvd player and a TV that will handle the input. Is the picture increase worth the added expense? The 32" non XBR WEGA is $1050 at costco. The XBR 32" is $2000.
any suggestions are appreciated.

the 36" sony wega xbr is worth getting into hock for. i was going strictly on recommendations, until i got it home and tweaked it per many reviews/posts about the set. i had originally thought the non xbr was good enough, but even though i could see the xbr was better in the showroom, after tweaking the picture with avia disk at home i was floored by absolutely stunning pix quality that exceeded anything i saw before. monster component video cables are ok, but the cables at www.bettercables.com are superior. go for the bigger set (you'll be happier cinema-wise in long run) even though it weighs a ton and is a hassle to get home without scheduling delivery (two or three guys needed) and have ironman stand/table to set it on, and well worth a few brown bag lunches if you have any interest in best that dvd/satellite sources have to offer. no contest
