i am having difficulty deciding between using a Denon AVR-5800 Receiver or
putting together separate components.coming up with a good combination of components has been a challenge,
specifically processor/preamp & amplifier combination.any suggestions? feel free to add to the list.

If so, which sounds best? That would be what silly old me would buy.

The base model EAD processor will surpass the performance of the ones you listed at just about the same price.If you can swing $2,200 for a power amp the Parasound 2205 is unbeatable in that range.
If you go with Paradigm don't buy the 20s, step up to the Ref 40's - you might also check out the new offerings from Energy or PSB (also Canadian companies).
