can someone help me out here ? think back way back to the early eighties remember before digital?! back when a portable video recorder
meant joining a gym so you could carry the damn thing!there was for
a brief period of time a format based on sort of a video LP not laser play back but via a stylus RCA had a model as well as others
I must be getting old cause I just brought up the format to a friend
and he thinks I'm smokin somethin strange !! PLEASE you oldfart
videophiles bail me out here if you remember these units and what
they were called

It was called RCA SelectaVision, VideoDisc. There's a player for sale on ebay today, item #1208202903.
I was in the "Biz" back then and attended a premier showing of this product to dealers in the Chicago area. I was underwhelmed and could not understand RCA's backward leap with the stylus thingy. It was sure to die suddenly and it did.
It was on the same wavelenght as 8-track and Elcassette
