In Reply to: Pioneer Elite DV-09 or Denon DVD-5000? posted by TomD on May 27, 1999 at 08:10:23:
Hi Tom,I own a DV-09; bought it for CAD$1400 - US$980 brand new, so shop around, there are good deals to be had if you look hard enough. That said, I tend to agree with everything stated so far on this thread. I've come to trust the Elite source components as I also own the legendary Elite CLD-97 laserdisc player which by the way, makes an awesome transport when used in conjunction with a decent DAC. The DV-09 had the quietest transport on the market by far. I found this feature very important as I don't appreciate all the wizzing and clicking that goes on with a lot of the other players (Denon DVD 5000 included which to me is unacceptable at its price) during quiet passages of music or movies. It is also the only DVD player so far that actually plays CD's extremely well. It has a very smooth and accurate presentation and also mdoubles as a great transport.
Hope that helps.
Ken.
