I have the Sony 36XBR400 that has an auto or set 16:9 mode for 16:9 input. Now my DVD can be set to put out a 16:9 but when it does the Sony squeezes the 16:9 from a 4:3 to 16:9 and the picture is "double squeezed". Anyone know how to take advantage of the higher resolution of the Sony's 16:9 mode with widescreen movies and actually be able to use it? (ps the DVD is a Technics VDV-A10 with a 16:9 output possible via the menu)
Follow Ups:
If it's getting "double squeezed", then it's not set correctly at the DVD player, and being down converted to letterbox mode first(in the DVD player), in all likliehood. Re-check your setting in the DVD player; it should be set to 16X9 enhanced, or "anamorhpic" (used to have a Panasonic as a secondary player, but don't remember the nomenclature they use). If your XBR squeezes the picture vertically, than with 16X9 (at the dvd player)(Not LBX- LBX is downconversion mode) you should be OK.Regards,
Jon
