Anyone know a good way to convert composite video to s-video? I know it will not have the "true" s-video quality but it would make hookup on the back of my reciever easier. Thanks

http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog_name=CTLG&category_name=CTLG_002_002_018_000&product_id=15-1238This one does the job for me, bought it to make video switching through my receiver easier. I don't think every radio shack has this product, I had to go to two different ones to find someone who knew it existed.
Hi,,,I don't know about a DIY design, but there are inline converters available from several mfg's. I use an Excalibur unit by Camelot Technologies. I know that Monster also has a unit, but it is more expensive. You can get them from Audio Advisor.
Richard :)
Go to MCM Electronics web site and do a search for part #33-6885. $19.95 plug and play. No assembly required. It eliminated a couple of steps on the remote control and now my wife can operate the system without getting stressed.
The composite video has all the info mushed together in one signal. The S-VHS signal is in two parts. To separate the mushed up signal of composite to be S-VHS would take a comb filter. The TV has one... but to "make" one..????? just to use a cable? It might be possible but not on the cheap. An electronics buff might have the parts to whip one up but not me.... nor would I want to use one if at all possible to skip it.
It might??? be possible to go from a S-vhs into a composite with less trouble, but the other way no.
