I'm just about to sink some serious 'dage in a new (and first one ever) home audio/video system. I need some opinions regarding the equipment being recommended. I should tell you the guy doing the recommending seems to be knowledgeable, is part owner of the shop, but is also the one doing the selling.
Here's what the list looks like:
Kenwood VR4700 Receiver, Kenwood DV4900 DVD Player and Kenwood CD4260 CD megachanger.
I know the system will only be as good as the weakest component, but let's assume for the sake of discussion the equipment is right for the room, the speakers are of at least equal quality, the monitor (Toshiba 40H80) is up to the task, etc.
Does anyone have any experience, lately, with Kenwood components? My very limited foray into home electronics (about 20 years ago) had Kenwood in the upper end of the quality band. I have no idea where they might be today.
Any opinions and/or personal experiences with the above units or Kenwood in general will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I have no explicit point of reference on the Kenwood equipment you are referring to. In general, Kenwood has dissapeared out of the limelight over the past decade. For a decent perspective on Kenwood equipment, check out www.audioreview.com. You are probably better off with Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo.
