The s video input on my toshiba tv developed a problem. The signal from the satellite dish would be black and white, and jiggling the cable at the tv end fixed the problem. I then switched input cables to an svideo cable from a playstation and initially the signal was black and white but then didn't come through at all, ie the screen was black. I plugged in the svideo cable from the satellite box and again had problems with the screen being black or having a B/W image and finally was able to achieve a color image after jiggling the cable in and out of the tvs input.Has anyone had a similar prior experience? What kind of a job would it take to replace the svideo input? Are there different quality levels of svideo inputs? I would be most appreciative of any comments or suggestions.

Replacing the S-Video socket on the Toshiba is a simple task. If your set is still under warranty, you should try and have it replaced- it is not a component that should "wear out" and may well have dry solder joints causing the problem.
If not under warranty, any reputable TV repair company should fix the problem for a call- out fee, minimum labor charge and a few dollars for the new socket if needed.
