Video Asylum

I am prewiring my family room (19 X 24). Because of the room setup, the video monitor will be in the corner, and a round viewing couch will be placed (center to video monitor) approx. 10 feet from the monitor. I thought it made sense to place the surround speaker (direct radiating) slightly to the right and left of center (assuming the primary viewer (being me) would sit in the center of the couch) and to the rear. However, the Dolby website suggests that the surrounds should face each other directly and to the sides of the viewer. This suggestion is for a square room, not a rectangular room. Any suggestions/thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
