I can't answer your Question but just wanted to add that I have tried to get the local Time-Warner cable Co. to "fix" the digital out on my Pioneer box... to no avail. I PAY for the 40 digital music channels but no-one fron the local company can get the digital output turned on properly. The damn thing puts out a digital signal that through my D/A sounds like PHIiiiT.... PhIIIIIT..... PHIiiiit A constant stream of this noise. Stupid.
I wish I COULD also run the digital output into my D/A converter!
Are they terrified of "digital copying?"

It's nice to hear that there are others that are having this problem. Frankly I can't help but wonder if it has something to do with the smarts of the people these huge companies are able to hire and not train...thanks for your info.Ben
Well, here in NYC, I have RCN as my cable provider.
I called them and asked about their digital service (not avail yet in my area) and about the box. They told me that the outputs of the BOX would NOT be digital. They would be standard RCA. So the signal is digital up to the box, but gets converted to analog for display on the TV. Still, they told me that the picture quality would be night and day from the analog, which , in my opinion, stinks. especialy channel 2...horrid!!
